Great Pyrenees Rescue Society Meet Up

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to meet some adoptable dogs and alumni from the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society. It was absolutely amazing to be in a room full of pyrs and pyr mixes – so much floof!

I’m just going to let the photos do the talking in this post 🙂

Our Love for Wellness Continues to Grow with CORE RawRev

If you’ve been following the fluffies for awhile, you know that we love all things Wellness Pet Food. We’ve talked about almost every one of their formulas on the blog and have yet to be disappointed. Our favorite is the Wellness® CORE® line and it’s a staple in Mauja and Atka’s rotation diet for years. I usually to try and add a topper to their dinner, whether it’s wet food or something freeze-dried. Much to the fluffies’ dismay, I sometimes forget to add something to their dinner, so they were beyond thrilled when Wellness started offering their new line to make it easier for me: Wellness® CORE® RevRaw™.

This post is sponsored by Wellness® and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share information about the Wellness® CORE® RawRev™ raw food dog food but It’s Dog or Nothing only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Neither Wellness or PetSmart are responsible for the content of this article.

Wellness CORE RevRaw contains high-quality, grain-free kibble with freeze dried raw pieces as an added nutritional boost. These 100% meat bits create a savory, nutrient-rich meal packed with everything your dog needs to thrive. They are less processed and able to remain in their raw state because only the water is removed. Not to mention, it encourages my picky eaters to actually finish a meal.

If you’ve contemplated “testing the water” with raw food, Wellness CORE RevRaw offers a safe and convenient way to try it out. The high protein ingredients encourage lean body mass and muscle tone to help your dog live a long and healthy life. Not only that, but it includes glucosamine and chondroitin to support strong joints as your dog ages.

I’m pretty picky about the ingredients included in the fluffies’ food, so I really appreciate the ingredients Wellness leaves out of this formula. Wellness CORE RevRaw is free of:

  • Grains
  • Meat by-products
  • Corn
  • Soy
  • Egg
  • Artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors

I also love that there are multiple flavors to satisfy every dog. Their original recipe offers a turkey formula (which is what Mauja and Atka are trying) and a lamb formula. There is also a turkey recipe specifically designed for small breed dogs.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow!

I have been excited to see the Megan Leavey since I first learned about it several months, but after the special sneak peek we received at BlogPaws, I became beyond ecstatic.

Not going to lie  – I sobbed at the preview. Major raccoon eyes. I’d recommend not wearing eye makeup when seeing this movie 😉

If you’re not familiar, the Megan Leavey movie is based on a true story about a young Marine corporal (Kate Mara) and her deployment in Iraq. After a disciplinary meeting, she is assigned to clean up the K9 unit, where she imee6ts and dentifies with an aggressive dog. Leavey is given the chance to train the dog, Rex, and they complete more than 100 missions together until an IED injures them, putting their fate in jeopardy.

Admit it – you got a bit emotional, didn’t you?

Merrick and the Megan Leavey Movie

This June and July, there are several ways for pet parents to score tickets to the Megan Leavey movie. The quickest and easiest way is to head to your local Petco and purchase a bag of Merrick Backcountry to gain a free ticket to the movie. Simply submit your receipt online to grab your ticket. Feeding your dog, supporting K9s for Warriors, and getting a chance to see the Megan Leavey movie? Win, win, win.

I ran to Petco earlier with Atka to grab a bag of Merrick Backcountry Hero’s Banquet and am going to run out with Mauja tomorrow so she can have her outing as well. Then I’ll have two tickets and be ready for the premiere on Friday, June 9th.

I have a feeling I’ll be seeing this move twice – once in theaters and a second time with the fluffies at the drive in. The second time is fully dependent on how likely I think Mauja and Atka are to bark incessantly during the movie 😉

Now that I think about it, I have a feeling that the drive in will be a floofless adventure.

If you’ve been around awhile, you know I have a soft spot for the military. My husband, Nick, is active duty Air Force, and I have several friends and family members serving. Growing up in a military town, this lifestyle has become engrained in my mind.

A huge passion of mine is K9 for Warriors, and I’ve been contemplating how to become involved in this wonderful organization for years. I had dreams to rescue Great Pyrenees and train them to be therapy dogs for our military members/veterans suffering from PTSD. Perhaps one day, I’ll bring that dream to fruition.

In the meantime, I’m searching for other ways to support our service members, both past and present, and their canine companions.

Since 2015, Merrick Pet Care has been the exclusive dog food partner for K9s for Warriors by providing their meals and training treats (the Power Bites have always been a fluffy favorite). These specially trained rescue dogs help empower their warriors to return to civilian life with independence. As of May 2017, K9s for Warriors has rescued 570 military dogs and 312 Warriors.

I got the chance to investigate the Hero’s Banquet formula a bit more in-depth a few weeks ago at BlogPaws. My biggest concern was the current quality of the ingredients included. Since Mauja and Atka are on a rotation diet, I’m always looking for new brands/formulas to add to their mix. Merrick’s Backcountry Raw Hero’s Banquet formula looked like the pyrfect way to mix up their meals.

Merrick Backcountry is a grain free, all-natural formula packed with protein-rich kibble and freeze dried raw bits. The kibble contains deboned meat, poultry, or fish as the number one ingredient and is full of omega fatty acids. The freeze dried raw pieces lock in a fresh taste and delicious aroma and texture.

The combination of exotic proteins plus flavorful raw bits keeps Mauja and Atka interested in the food. When I first tested Merrick Backcountry with the fluffies, I was worried that they would pick out the raw pieces and ignore the kibble (they are insanely particular about their food!). Thankfully, they happily ate everything in their bowls. My assumption is that the raw bits added an extra boost of yum to convince the fluffies to eat everything.

Not only did my picky eaters love the food, but their tummies tolerated it very well. That’s a double win for this fluffy mama!
