Our Wellness Love Grows with CORE RawRev

June 15, 2017 Leave a Comment

Want to include raw in your dog's diet. Wellness CORE RawRev makes it safe and easy to add the nutrition of raw to your dog's meals.

Our Love for Wellness Continues to Grow with CORE RawRev

If you’ve been following the fluffies for awhile, you know that we love all things Wellness Pet Food. We’ve talked about almost every one of their formulas on the blog and have yet to be disappointed. Our favorite is the Wellness® CORE® line and it’s a staple in Mauja and Atka’s rotation diet for years. I usually to try and add a topper to their dinner, whether it’s wet food or something freeze-dried. Much to the fluffies’ dismay, I sometimes forget to add something to their dinner, so they were beyond thrilled when Wellness started offering their new line to make it easier for me: Wellness® CORE® RevRaw™.

This post is sponsored by Wellness® and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share information about the Wellness® CORE® RawRev™ raw food dog food but It’s Dog or Nothing only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Neither Wellness or PetSmart are responsible for the content of this article.

Wellness CORE RevRaw contains high-quality, grain-free kibble with freeze dried raw pieces as an added nutritional boost. These 100% meat bits create a savory, nutrient-rich meal packed with everything your dog needs to thrive. They are less processed and able to remain in their raw state because only the water is removed. Not to mention, it encourages my picky eaters to actually finish a meal.

If you’ve contemplated “testing the water” with raw food, Wellness CORE RevRaw offers a safe and convenient way to try it out. The high protein ingredients encourage lean body mass and muscle tone to help your dog live a long and healthy life. Not only that, but it includes glucosamine and chondroitin to support strong joints as your dog ages.

Want to include raw in your dog's diet. Wellness CORE RawRev makes it safe and easy to add the nutrition of raw to your dog's meals.

I’m pretty picky about the ingredients included in the fluffies’ food, so I really appreciate the ingredients Wellness leaves out of this formula. Wellness CORE RevRaw is free of:

  • Grains
  • Meat by-products
  • Corn
  • Soy
  • Egg
  • Artificial preservatives, colors, and flavors

I also love that there are multiple flavors to satisfy every dog. Their original recipe offers a turkey formula (which is what Mauja and Atka are trying) and a lamb formula. There is also a turkey recipe specifically designed for small breed dogs.

Love Wellness Pet Food and want to keep up to date on the current happenings? Follow them on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest.

Can’t wait for your dog to get his paws on Wellness CORE RevRaw? There’s a great offer happening: Buy One, Get One 50% off by visiting PetSmart and Unleashing the Power of Raw.

Helping Pets in Need Become a #WellnessPet

December 12, 2016 Leave a Comment

Does your pet food company give back? Wellness Pet Food helps to provide pets in need with healthy food. This post is sponsored by Wellness and the BlogPawsTM Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share the availability of Wellness Products at PetSmart, but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. Neither Wellness nor PetSmart is responsible for the content of this article.

Helping Pets in Need Become a #WellnessPet

Animal rescue is extremely tough.

Not only do you have to sacrifice your time, open your heart to possible pain, and alter your life, but you have to find ways to provide for the rescues you take in. While Great Pyrenees eat less than most anticipate, they are still giant dogs who require hefty food bills. Many people in rescue, myself included, don’t always have a large enough budget to feed all of the dogs they take in.

If rescue volunteers can’t afford to feed the dogs, they turn down foster opportunities. The dog they could have fostered, given the appropriate resources, remains in the shelter and often at risk for euthanasia.

WellPet Foundation

Thankfully, amazing resources, such as the WellPet Foundation, are able to assist in feeding dogs in need to keep them out of shelters.

At WellPet, we are committed to giving back to the world we share with our pets. Through the WellPet Foundation, we support organizations and activities that promote the power of natural nutrition and the benefits of healthy, active lifestyles.

This past November, catastrophic flooding forced many people from Louisiana to leave their homes. Unfortunately, the severity of the situation caused many pets to be left behind and in need of food and proper care. One shelter, The Companion Alliance of Baton Rouge, took in 650 animals before and after the flooding. Now, that’s a hefty food bill.

Does your pet food company give back? Wellness Pet Food helps to provide pets in need with healthy food.

As shelter volunteers work tirelessly to reunite pets with their owners, they don’t need the added burden of ensuring the animals are fed a healthy diet. The WellPet Foundation stepped in a donated nearly 50,000 pounds of food and treats to The Companion Alliance of Baton Rouge and other shelters nearby.

A Personal Experience

I had the chance to personally experience the generosity of the WellPet Foundation. The Great Pyrenees Rescue, Montana took in a Great Pyrenees/Akbash puppy who was found in the woods. The puppy was tiny, weak, and clearly malnourished. One amazing volunteer took the puppy, Rooby, into her home.

Does your pet food company give back? Wellness Pet Food helps to provide pets in need with healthy food.

I reached out to Wellness® to see if they would be willing to help take care of the puppy by providing food for her. Without hesitation, I received a “yes” and was passing along mailing information. Little Miss Rooby was thrilled with her Wellness food and the donation relieved some pressure from her foster mom. P.S. Rooby is currently looking for her forever home!

Unfortunately, too many pet food companies are only “in it for the money” and fail to keep our pets’ best interests in mind. I can honestly say that I have never felt that way about Wellness. I’ve been lucky to meet several people on the Wellness team, and their love of pets is clearly evident.

We have been fans of Wellness products since the fluffies were babies, but my fondness for the company has continued to grow as I’ve learned more about their mission and company personality. One of the best things about Wellness Pet Food is that they have a formula for every dog. The fluffies like to rotate between Wellness® CORE®, Wellness© Complete Health™, and Wellness® TruFood®. There are enough formulas and flavors to keep them interested!

If you haven’t checked out all that Wellness has to offer, you can do that here. Or you can simply swing by your local PetSmart to pick up a bag! Trust me, your fluffy with thank you.

The #WellnessPet Difference – Giant Breed Edition

November 11, 2016 3 Comments

Do you feel completely comfortable with the food you are feeding your giant breed dog? While we feed a rotation diet that includes "all life stages" foods, large breed formulas are great for peace of mind about nutrients. Check out our preferred large breed formula!

The #WellnessPet Difference – Giant Breed Edition

This post is sponsored by Wellness and the BlogPaws™ Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share the availability of Wellness Products at PetSmart, but we only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. Neither Wellness nor PetSmart is responsible for the content of this article.

While I feed “all life stages” food sometimes, my preference is usually to feed a formula targeted at large breed dogs. I prefer large breed formulas, especially in busy times, because I don’t have to worry that Mauja and Atka are getting enough nutrients. Specifically, I’m concerned that they are getting the necessary amounts of omegas, glucosamine, and chondroitin. While these nutrients are good for any dog to have, they are especially important for giant breed dogs to maintain healthy skin, coat, hips, and joints.

When feeding an “all life stages” food, I supplement the fluffies’ diet with salmon oil and a hip and joint supplement. This provides me with added comfort, but it’s also additional products I have to buy and ensure I have on hand. A quality large breed formula decreases the need for additional supplements and adds simplicity to my busy life. Thankfully, Wellness® offers several large breed formulas, including one of our absolute favorites.

The Wellness Difference

7a46b02e-9d4e-11e6-a25c-22000a7d00a4

At Wellness, we do whatever it takes to create the healthiest foods for the pets that depend on us. Food feeds their souls, sustains their lives, and protects their bodies. That’s why our diverse team of animal lovers, nutritionists, and vets has only one mission: To help you provide your pet a healthy, happy, long life through the power of natural nutrition.

The Wellness Difference is about being more than natural. And it’s not about what is left out = no fillers or artificial ingredients – these are a given for us. True Wellness is about what we put in – a small number of simple, pure, authentic ingredients. We believe this is the way to make superior food for our animals.

Do you feel completely comfortable with the food you are feeding your giant breed dog? While we feed a rotation diet that includes "all life stages" foods, large breed formulas are great for peace of mind about nutrients. Check out our preferred large breed formula!
Atka trying to decide which Wellness product he wants at PetSmart this time!

The focus on ingredients that are included, rather than ingredients left out, is one of my favorite things about Wellness. They’re not focused on simply leaving out unhealthy ingredients. Wellness wants to include the best ingredients to provide high-quality nutrition for your dog. More importantly, you don’t have to worry about Wellness simply adding the latest buzzword to their label.

Wellness® CORE® Large Breed

There are a few distinct differences between the regular CORE line and the large breed CORE formula. In my opinion, the most important difference is the level of glucosamine and chondroitin. While the original CORE formula contains 250 mg/kg of glucosamine and 200 mg/kg of chondroitin, CORE large breed boasts 750 mg/kg of glucosamine and 250 mg/kg of chondroitin. The higher levels will help to keep your giant breed’s hips and joints healthy for life.

Do you feel completely comfortable with the food you are feeding your giant breed dog? While we feed a rotation diet that includes "all life stages" foods, large breed formulas are great for peace of mind about nutrients. Check out our preferred large breed formula!

The second difference is the size of the kibble. If you have a giant breed, you know your dog could easily snort the pieces of kibble up his nose. Big dogs want big kibble that doesn’t get stuck in their teeth! Can’t argue with that 😉

Feeding a large breed formula isn’t a must for your giant breed, but it definitely makes life simpler by including the necessary supplements in the food. Regardless of the CORE formula you choose, you’ll be giving your dog a high-quality, high-protein food filled with all the nutrients your dog needs to thrive.

What Does it Take to be a #WellnessPet?

October 21, 2016 34 Comments

Is your dog a #WellnessPet? Here's how I tell if my Great Pyrenees are showing the 5 Signs of Wellness.

What Does it Take to be a #WellnessPet?

Earlier this year, we were beyond thrilled to share with you that one of our favorite lines of dog food, Wellness® Complete Health™, had gone grain-free. Mauja and Atka hadn’t eaten the original Complete Health line in quite awhile due to being on an entirely grain-free diet, so we loved the opportunity to incorporate an old favorite back into their rotation diet.

It’s no secret that we are huge fans of the Wellness products. Aside from the Complete Health Grain-Free line, we’ve also talked a lot about Wellness TruFood and the benefits of a baked food for your dog.

Today, we’re going to round out our Wellness line-up by talking about Wellness® CORE®! While Wellness CORE and Wellness Complete Health Grain-Free are two of our all-time favorites, you’re certain to see the 5 Signs of Wellness after switching your dog to any of the Wellness products.

Is your dog a #WellnessPet? Here's how I tell if my Great Pyrenees are showing the 5 Signs of Wellness.
Wellness Complete Health Grain-Free or Wellness CORE?

5 Signs of Wellness

Skin & Coat Health

By including essential vitamins and minerals as well as quality Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, your dog’s skin and coat will be exceptionally snugglable.

Energy

High-quality proteins, grain-free sources of carbohydrates, and healthy fats provide your dog with the energy necessary to engage in his favorite activities – whether that’s a sprightly game of fetch or a long nap on the couch.

Digestive Health

Healthy sources of fiber, chicory root extra, and probiotics are the perfect combination to support a healthy digestive system.

Eyes, Teeth, and Gums

Appropriate levels of Vitamin A are incorporated into Wellness products to support healthy eyes and calcium and phosphorus support healthy, strong teeth and gums.

Immunity

Fruits and vegetables full of antioxidants as well as nutritional supplements, such a Vitamin E, help to support a healthy immune system.

Fluffy Wellness

How do I know when the fluffies are displaying the 5 Signs of Wellness? Easy.

  • Their fur is pyrfectly snuggable.
  • Their eyes speak to my soul.
  • Their smiles sparkle.
  • Their coats glisten.
  • They bounce when I say, “walk”.
  • They leap into the car with glee.
  • They make me feel like the most amazing person in the world <3

Wellness CORE

Is your dog a #WellnessPet? Here's how I tell if my Great Pyrenees are showing the 5 Signs of Wellness.Wellness CORE was the first food Mauja and Atka had when they transitioned from puppy food to an adult recipe. It has been a favorite for several reasons:

  • Wellness CORE is a grain-free, protein-rich formula
  • No corn, wheat, animal by-products, or anything artificial
  • It’s available in several flavors: Original, Ocean, Wild Game, Small Breed, Large Breed, Puppy, and Reduced Fat
  • There’s more than just dry food. Your dog can try Air-Dried Formulas, Wet Formulas, and several types of treats.

Which Wellness food do you think your dog would like best?

Wellness-Inspired BlogPaws Highlights

Wellness-Inspired BlogPaws Highlights

It has been one crazy month, but we are finally home and beginning to get settled in. All of our household goods arrived yesterday, so it was the perfect time to get home from BlogPaws. While BlogPaws came and went far too quickly, we had an absolute blast and can’t thank our sponsor, Wellness, enough for the amazing opportunity.

Wellness VIP Breakfast

Great Pyrenees and Wellness Pet Food at BlogPaws 2016

If I’m being completely honest, there were a few things we were looking forward to more than others during the BlogPaws conference. One event we were really looking forward to (but had to keep hush hush about for awhile) was the Wellness VIP breakfast!

Over the past three months, It’s Dog or Nothing, along with several other amazing bloggers, has been participating in the #GrainFreeForMe Wellness campaign. Wellness recently debuted their new grain-free Complete Health line and we were extremely eager to try it out. So far, I have nothing but positive things to say about the fluffies’ experience on the food. The VIP breakfast was an opportunity for us to finally meet the other participating bloggers in person.

Not only did Wellness provide us with a delicious breakfast and copious amounts of oh so necessary coffee, but we also left with swag bags full of Wellness products. Atka wasted no time in seeking out his new tennis ball and searching for someone to feed him some treats.

The Wellness Booth

Great Pyrenees and Wellness Pet Food at BlogPaws 2016

We made frequent trips into the exhibit hall to meet new friends, but Atka always made sure we visited the Wellness booth before making any other stops. He knew a trip to their booth meant treats and belly rubs – what more could a dog ask for? It didn’t matter what else was going on; Atka pulled me directly to the Wellness booth every time.

If you stopped to visit Wellness, I’m sure you saw their fun, Instagram-inspired photobooth. We tried to get both fluffies to pose behind the Instagram cut out, but poor Mauja was absolutely terrified of it. Thankfully, Atka didn’t seem to mind 😉 If you got a picture at the Wellness booth, be sure to share it with us on social media – we’d love it see it!

The Wellness Experience

I know that BlogPaws can get pretty crazy, so if you attended the conference and didn’t make it to the Wellness booth, please let me know! Wellness had some samples of their awesome, new and improved, grain-free Complete Health line. We’ve been loving the food and know your dog (or cat!) will find a Wellness product that suits their specific needs. Let us help you find that perfect formula!

Don’t forget – you can search #OperationDesertFluffies on Instagram for all our fun BlogPaws pictures! If you attended BlogPaws, did you get a chance to stop by the Wellness booth and grab some samples?

Feeding a Great Pyrenees is Expensive #GrainFreeForMe

June 17, 2016 14 Comments

One of the first things I'm always asked about Great Pyrenees is, "How much do they eat?" Today, I'm answering that question and giving my recommendation for the perfect food.

Feeding a Great Pyrenees is Expensive

“Feeding a Great Pyrenees is expensive.”

This is a comment I hear all the time from people who are not familiar with the breed. I’m often greeted with comments like,

“Did you get a second job to feed those two?”

“I can’t imagine your food bill.”

“Must be like feeding a horse!”

These comments couldn’t be further from the truth. Feeding a Great Pyrenees is not nearly as expensive as you would imagine.

Disclaimer

Slow Metabolism

The biggest reason that Great Pyrenees do not eat as much as expected is because they have a slow metabolism for their size. In fact, they will typically eat the same amount as your average medium-large sized dog.

The effect of their slow metabolism is exacerbated by their innate laziness. Pyrs will find a spot where they can easily keep watch and nap the day away, moving only when necessary. While they do require daily exercise, they are typically couch potatoes for the other 23 hours of the day 😉

One of the first things I'm always asked about Great Pyrenees is, "How much do they eat?" Today, I'm answering that question and giving my recommendation for the perfect food.

Skipping Meals

It is very common, especially in the summertime, for a Great Pyrenees to skip meals. Mauja and Atka both have stretches during the summer where they just aren’t interested in eating, even when they’re feeling well. Last summer, Mauja didn’t eat for two days. Ultimately, I had to super entice her because I was worried she would go too long without eating.

Obviously, do not force your dog to skip meals. However, do not be alarmed if your Great Pyrenees loses interest in eating during the hot, summer months. It’s completely normal and his appetite will be back once the weather begins to cool!

Natural Weight Regulation

While there are definitely some food-crazed Great Pyrenees who inhale their food, the majority of pyrs will regulate their weight on their own. They can safely “free feed” because they typically will not overeat. We try and stick with mealtimes for consistency, but we often free fed in the summer when their appetites are lacking – they never clean their food bowls.

Great Pyrenees also tend to be finicky about their food. Mauja and Atka won’t eat just any food and can be very particular. Sometimes, I’ve thought I was making their meal more enticing and they looked at me like I was crazy. Try not to be too offended if your pyr snubs his meals on occasion 😉

High-Quality Food

The most important thing when feeding a Great Pyrenees is to feed a high-quality food. A high-quality food will be free of fillers and full of completely digestible natural ingredients. It’s also important that the food contains both prebiotics and probiotics to ensure your pyr is absorbing the nutrients and digesting the food properly. When you feed a protein-rich diet without fillers, you don’t need to feed as much!

Mauja and Atka have really been enjoying the Wellness® Complete Health™ grain-free line. It has settled Mauja’s tummy and relieved Atka’s itchies. We’re all happy about that! During the stress of the move, I’ve been supplementing their regular dry food with the Wellness® CORE® Air-Dried formula. The fluffies go absolutely NUTS for this stuff! The Air-Dried food is soft and chewy, so it’s a nice change from kibble. They think it’s a super special treat and Atka does his little happy dance when I grab the bag. I’ll just keep the fact that it’s wholesome to myself 😉

One of the first things I'm always asked about Great Pyrenees is, "How much do they eat?" Today, I'm answering that question and giving my recommendation for the perfect food.
A silly, candid photo of Mauja and Atka. I walked away to get something and found them both waiting by the bag!

Shop PetSmart Deals

The final reason our food bill isn’t ridiculous is because we shop for deals on Wellness dog food. With our recent move, PetSmart is easily accessible and I can always count on them having a great price. Even better, June and July have great deals on Wellness CORE and Complete Health products!

During the month of June, Core® dry dog food recipes are $2.00 off at PetSmart®.

The Fluffies Have an Announcement…

SponsorDisclaimer2In less than 2 weeks, we will be hitting the road for BlogPaws. If you aren’t familiar BlogPaws is an absolutely AMAZING pet blogging conference. This 3-day conference is pet-friendly and packed full of great information. Last year, we attended for the first time and had a blast. We met tons of amazing people and brands and were completely exhausted by the end of it.

It was so worth it.

Since we had such a blast, I knew we had to come back for the 2016 BlogPaws Conference. With us being mid-move, things have been a bit crazy, but I knew we had to go. I was super excited, but became absolutely ecstatic when this arrived in my inbox:

Wellness is interested in sponsoring your trip to BlogPaws so that you can be an onsite Ambassador for them.

Say what, now?

I’m not going to lie – I may have let out a squeal when I read the email, which, of course, caused Mauja and Atka to bark.

I just pretended they were cheering along with me 😉

No, I wasn’t excited that someone was going to provide financial support for It’s Dog or Nothing (but I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t an added perk!). I was excited to create a deeper partnership with a brand we’ve been dedicated to for quite some time.

If you’ve been following us for awhile, you know that we love, love, love Wellness products – we’ve talked about them so many times! Wellness has always been my first recommendation when asked for dog food information (I know many of you can vouch for that!). Not only is Wellness food a staple to Mauja and Atka’s rotation diet, but the WellBites and TruFood CocoChia Bakes are two of their favorite treats.

We have several Wellness products in their rotation diet, but currently, two of their favorites are the CORE Ocean formula and the grain-free Complete Health Whitefish and Menhaden Fish Meal recipe. The new grain-free Complete Health line has helped eliminate Atka’s itchies and settle Mauja’s tummy. I really can’t say enough good things about our experience with the products from Wellness.

If you are coming to BlogPaws (you really should – more info here!), make sure you stop by the Wellness booth for a #GrainFreeForMe photo booth and tons of giveaways and prizes. We’ll be spending a lot of time there and the fluffies are always demanding snuggles!

Great Pyrenees and Wellness Dog Food
The fluffies with the Wellness girls at BlogPaws last year. Best friends!

It’s Dog or Nothing will also be giving away a year’s worth of dog food to another blogger at BlogPaws. If you are interested in the Complete Health line, come chat with us and you might be the lucky winner!

I cannot even begin to say how thrilled I am to have the opportunity to work more closely with Wellness. I have seen Mauja and Atka thrive on their products over the past few years and know other dogs will have the same experience.

Has your dog tried Wellness products? Will you be attending BlogPaws? Let us know in the comments!

I Have Celiac, but That’s Not Why I Feed Grain-Free #GrainFreeForMe

May 24, 2016 21 Comments

An interesting encounter really made me think about how I feed my dogs. Here's why I feed my Great Pyrenees grain-free dog food #GrainFreeForMe

I Have Celiac, but That’s Not Why I Feed Grain-Free

I have Celiac disease. If you’re not familiar with Celiac, I’m certain you’re familiar with the gluten-free trend. For people with Celiac disease and Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (NCGS), a gluten-free lifestyle isn’t a choice, it’s a necessity.

Recently, I was out with Atka browsing the pet food aisle. I’m not sure why (maybe I’m a tad weird), but I enjoy looking at all of the available commercial foods, studying the ingredients, and then pulling out my phone to continue the research. Plus, it gives me ample time to work on down-stays with Atka.

This post is sponsored by Wellness® Natural Pet Food and the BlogPaws® Pet Influencer Network™. I am being compensated to help share Wellness Grain Free options, but we  only share information we feel is relevant to our readers. Wellness is not responsible for the content of this article.

An interesting encounter really made me think about how I feed my dogs. Here's why I feed my Great Pyrenees grain-free dog food #GrainFreeForMe

While I was looking through some of the Wellness® products, I ran into an individual I work with. We are not close, but there have been enough events that I’ve declined so she knows I’m gluten-free. She looked at me, looked at my cart, looked back at me, and said, “You’ve got to be kidding me. You even force your DOG to eat gluten-free?!”

I didn’t know what to say. Yes, Mauja and Atka consume a grain-free diet of commercial pet food and homemade food. While they have not always been on a grain-free diet, their switch happened before my diagnosis, when they reached adulthood.

Unfortunately, when this individual commented about my feeding practices, I was so caught off-guard that I didn’t know how to answer. Now that I’ve composed myself, here are my top 3 reasons for feeding my Great Pyrenees Wellness Complete Health™ grain-free food.

  1. Grain-free food provides more of a nutritional punch. Rather than being full of empty calories and nutrients, they get “more of the good stuff”, such as chickpeas, flaxseed, carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, apples, and blueberries. In Wellness dog food, this includes natural ingredients with high-quality protein for full energy, prebiotics and probiotics to support healthy digestion, and vitamins A & E to support healthy immune system.
  2. Grain-free food can help alleviate allergies. Great Pyrenees are prone to both food and environmental allergies, so I wanted to be cognizant of that fact when determining their diet. Grains are a popular allergen trigger for this breed.
  3. Grain-free diets can help prevent ear infections, stomach upset, and other gastrointestinal issues. If Mauja and Atka are comfortable and happy, I’m happy too.
  4. A bonus, yet selfish, reason. Feeding grain-free food helps keep me healthy! I can get very sick from simply breathing in the air particles of their food or scratching my face while feeding them. The fluffies do not accept a sick mom who skips walks 😉

Atka’s Wellness Complete Health Update

Atka has been on Wellness Complete Health for just over a month now. We are using Wellness as his food base to ensure he is getting all of his essential vitamins and minerals, but then add a topper of homemade food. The Complete Health line offers everything he needs, but I always like to add a little something extra 😉

As completely shocked as I am to say this, Atka’s itching has disappeared in the last month. We did have Atka on a completely homemade diet and did not see any improvement, so we were getting quite frustrated. I tried a lot of experimenting, but I couldn’t seem to alleviate the itching.

An interesting encounter really made me think about how I feed my dogs. Here's why I feed my Great Pyrenees grain-free dog food #GrainFreeForMe

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t know why the itching has ceased since the switch, but I’m not going to question it! Atka loves the food, he’s not itching, and I know he’s getting great nutrition – I’m a happy pyr mom <3

Keep It True with Living Nutrition [GIVEAWAY!]

April 13, 2016 12 Comments

When it comes to giant breed health and nutrition, there's a lot that goes into raising a happy, healthy dog. We're going from A to Z talking about giant breed specific needs! Today, we're talking about a fluffy favorite - Wellness TruFood!

Keep It True With Living Nutrition

After all the information I’ve been throwing at you for the past week and a half, I thought it would be nice to take a break and have a “just for fun” post. Rather than talking about an issue that can face giant breeds, we’ll be touching on a food I love to keep my giant breeds healthy.

I’m always looking for high-quality food to add to Mauja and Atka’s rotation diet. Today, we’re going to be briefly talking about one of our rotation staples, Wellness TruFood. While this isn’t a new addition, it’s a food that I really wanted to touch on again during the A to Z Challenge!

For me, #TruLoveIs is a Great Pyrenees. For Mauja and Atka, #TruLoveIs Wellness TruFood. TruFood gives pets more of what they need to be vibrant and happy.

What’s my main reason for loving TruFood?

It’s a baked dog food.

I did a whole post on the difference between baked and extruded dog food (how normal kibble is made) and the benefits of choosing a food that’s baked. To sum it up, while traditional extruded dog food only retains 40% of the natural vitamins and minerals, baked dog food retains almost 100% of the original nutrients.

Slow-baking raw, whole-prey meats with grain-free fiber like peas, chickpeas and lentils results in more moist, raw protein in every bowl. Pets love the flavor of Trufood’s caramelized slow-baked meats. And you’ll love that TruFood has up to 70% more protein than similar foods. – Wellness

Wellness TruFood is an entire line of premium-quality products. Aside from traditional dry food, they also have wet food and a variety of treats. Mauja and Atka have loved everything they have tried from the TruFood line (and they can be pretty particular!).

But, enough of me babbling on. Today, I’m not here to go through all the details of TruFood, the benefits of switching to TruFood, or all the reasons why we love TruFood. If you want to read a thorough review of Wellness TruFood, head to this blog post where I go much more in-depth (if you’re looking to add a new food to your dog’s rotation or switch entirely, I highly recommend looking into TruFood).

Instead, I’m here to give you a chance to try it for yourself!

So, read through this post on the benefits of baked dog food and this one on the Wellness TruFood line. Then, once you’re convinced of the benefits, enter the giveaway below for your chance to try some of the TruFood products! Your dog will thank you 🙂
