February PetBox

February 24, 2015 9 Comments

It’s February and that means… time for a new PetBox and a review from some PetBox Spokesdoggies!

Want to spoil your dog with the monthly subscription, PetBox? Use code "DOGORNOTHING" at check out!

PetBox is a monthly pet subscription service that brings your pup (or kitty!) the latest and greatest products. Simply chose your desired plan, fill in some information about your pet, and wait for your box to arrive. If you want to be more involved, you can choose which products come in your monthly box.

Let’s dig in!

February PetBox Food & Treats

Want to spoil your dog with the monthly subscription, PetBox? Use code "DOGORNOTHING" at check out!

  1. Old Mother Hubbard Bits of Love – These adorable, heart-shaped treats are perfect for Valentine’s Day or any time you want to show your pup some love.
  2. Pet Greens Treats – These treats are made with wheat grass, which provides chlorophyll, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. These treats are also free of gluten, grains, fillers, and artificial ingredients.
  3. Evanger’s Super Premium Beef Dinner – The fluffies love a good wet food added to their dinner every now and then and I love when it’s a healthy addition.
February PetBox Toys

Want to spoil your dog with the monthly subscription, PetBox? Use code "DOGORNOTHING" at check out!

  1. ZippyPaws Toy – This toy is pretty small in comparison to the toys I usually get the fluffies. This toy has crinkle paper in it, which is a fluffy favorite!
  2. Topsy Turvies Fetch Toy – An adorable little toy that I’m sure Mauja and Atka will destroy, but they’ll have a lot of fun doing it!
  3. Petstages Dental Twist – This rough and tough toy is doing a great job of standing up to chewing. The toy is twisted with rubber which helps to massage your dog’s gums.

Dreaming of a PetBox

February 5, 2015 11 Comments

Great Pyrenees Love PetBox

About two months ago, we were given the opportunity to review PetBox, the monthly subscription service for dogs and cats. I loved it, the fluffies loved it, and we received a wonderful email asking Mauja and Atka to be PetBox SpokesDoggies! *insert cheering and party noises here*

Our January PetBox was full of fluffy goodness so keep on reading!

Smart N’ Tasty Seafood Medley Treats

Great Pyrenees and Smart N' Tasty Treats

Looking for a treat made without grain, gluten, soy, or dairy and with a crunchy texture that promotes clean teeth? Want the treat made in the USA? Well, give these treats a try! I won’t lie… they’re pretty smelly. They smellier the better, right?

Cooper’s Classics Beef Ear

Great Pyrenees and Cooper's Classics Beef Ear

With no artificial colors, preservatives, or flavors and minimally processed US raised cattle, it’s easy to see why these were included in the PetBox roundup. I was pleasantly surprised with how long it took the fluffies to eat this treat, too!

Bow Wow Pet Ruff & Tuff Chew Resistant Toy

Great Pyrenees and Ruff and Tuff Toy

Has anyone found a truly “chew resistant” toy? Mauja and Atka are serious toy destroyers and a stuffed toy has never lasted in our house. Regardless, they love this toy. The size makes it great for a game of tug!

Evanger’s Super Premium Dog Food

Great Pyrenees and Evangers dog food

Mauja tried the Chicken & Brown Rice Formula for All Life Stages. It’s made in the USA and contains no corn, wheat, or soy. My giant breeds prefer their kibble to be giant sized as well, so they can’t snort it up their noses!

SPOT Pet Speak Toy

Great Pyrenees

It makes a fun squeaky noise and has an adorable quote on it. Yes, please!

Bison Chewies

Great Pyrenees and Bison Chewies

Slimy, smelly, and a bit weird looking, but holy fluffy a HUGE hit. These are real meat with natural preservatives and made in the USA.

Old Mother Hubbard Jingle Jangle P-Nuttier Treats

Old Mother Hubbard Treats

Even though Christmas has come and gone, I loved these treats. With real peanut butter and adorable shapes, these are a holiday hit!

Smart N’ Tasty Twizzie

Great Pyrenees and Twizzies

These are by-product, grain, gluten, dairy, and soy free. The fluffies loved the taste and enjoyed the fact that these really didn’t smell!

Disclaimer: We received a year subscription for Mauja and Atka being PetBox SpokesDoggies. It’s Dog or Nothing only promotes products we believe in and feel our readers would enjoy.

Indoor Activities for Dogs

Just because the fluffies enjoy plenty of outside time in this weather, doesn’t mean that I do. I am a summer loving girl and count down the days until the warm weather returns again. Unfortunately, Montana likes to keep the warm months to a minimum.

If there’s too much snow, too much wind, or the cold just doesn’t agree with your dog, here’s some indoor activities for dogs to keep them stimulated in the winter.

Training

Pyrs aren’t trick dogs, but that doesn’t mean we can’t work on training. Rather than focusing on adorable tricks, we spend a lot of time on impulse control. Training requires a lot of mental attention which can be more exhausting than physical activity. Rubicon Days and ZoePhee are great examples of bonding with your dog through trick training.

Interactive Toys

Do you have a puzzle toy or treat dispenser? The fluffies love when I add some treats to their Kong Wobbler or IQ Treat Ball. Mauja will knock the ball around to get the treats and Atka will follow behind to gobble up the treats she misses. Teamwork. Adding peanut butter, yogurt, wet food, or your dog’s favorite treat to a Kong Genius and popping it in the freezer is also a great time-consuming activity.

Agility

Have a little extra space in your living room? Many agility pieces can be easily broken down and stored when not in use. Look into a basic agility kit or head to your local hardware store to create your own!

Hide and Seek

Does your dog need to brush up on his recall? Why not make it a fun game! Put your dog in a sit/stay while you hide somewhere in your house (keep in mind your dog’s skill level). Call your dog and praise lavishly when he finds you!

Find It

This is another fun game that we used to play with Kaeto all the time. Hide a strong smelling treat and encourage your dog to use his nose to find it. Kaeto loved searching for hot dogs!

Go on an Outing

I like to take the fluffies to stores that allow pets in the winter. It gets them out of the house and we can work on training and improve socialization. Make a stop at Starbucks for a puppuccino as an added treat!

Cuddle

There’s nothing better than some cuddle time with your favorite pooch. Curl up on the couch and take a nap after all your indoor fun!

How do you keep your dog entertained during the winter months?

Spoil Your Dog with PetBox

Mauja’s First PetBox!

These different monthly subscription boxes for pets have been around for awhile. I kept sitting down to order one and couldn’t convince myself to. About a week ago, I saw a great coupon code on Pawsitively Pets. You know me, I can’t pass up a good deal. So I decided to order Mauja her first PetBox! (don’t worry, Atka will get one next month and Mauja is willing to share)
