We were so excited to get a package from Talia’s Toys this weekend! If you haven’t heard of Talia’s toys, she makes these adorable upcycled tug toys (who doesn’t love when things are upcycled?!). When I opened the package, I was tickled to see not only the toy, but some treats and a hand written card as well! I don’t know about you, but I love the personal touches. It really shows how much someone cares about their product and their customers.
I received the happiest email yesterday.
Balto has been adopted!
Atka certainly knows how to get into mischief. I’m sure you saw my review post where Atka decided to shred my book. Teenagers… 😉
This weekend we were all on a walk when we ran into a family friend. Their two year old was smitten with the dogs so we decided to let them all play on the playground. Mauja decided that Atka and the girl were getting into too much mischief, so she went to hang out with the adults. [Read more…] about It Was Her Idea
Since it’s finally nice out in Montana, people have been spending a lot of time outside. That means there are more people to stop and meet Mauja and Atka. The extra interaction leads to a lot of interesting questions/comments.
There’s one that gets me every time.
“How much does a dog like that cost?” [Read more…] about What Does it Matter?
Things have been rough in our house for the past few years. I’ve been suffering from several health issues, physical and mental, that have been interfering with every day life. These are issues that I’ve kept pretty quiet, but I’m learning the best way to move on is to talk about them. I feel like I’ve been trapped in a tiny bubble for the past few years. I work as a nanny, partly because I love it and partly because I don’t have to wear “real clothes” to work. My friendship circle is limited because I’m sick a lot or at the doctors. Things have been rough, but there are three things that have kept me going: my husband, Mauja, and Atka. [Read more…] about Bonding with Atka

“Let’s take the dogs to the river!”
That was my brilliant exclamation that lead to a morning long adventure. [Read more…] about Mosquitoes, Parades, and the River
Mauja was always our pyrfect angel of a puppy. She has a wonderful disposition and excelled through her obedience classes. She went everywhere with us and absolutely loved it. As she hit her adolescence, her enjoyment of new places slowly started to change. She began to exhibit anxiety in new situations, which led to poor manners. As with most adolescent dogs, her self-control started to become very poor. Her anxiety coupled with her lack of self control have been getting progressively worse. As the warm weather approaches, many of us are becoming more concerned about flea and tick control. We’re spending more time outside and the temperature is becoming a breeding ground for fleas. Ever since Mauja and Kaeto got fleas two years ago, I have been searching for a better method to keep Mauja and Atka flea free. We had been using a big name topical treatment and it failed on us one month. I noticed Kaeto itching and found little bits of flea dirt on his fur. It took three months of baths, medication, and vacuuming several times a day to get rid of the fleas in the house. It was a disaster. [Read more…] about Flea and Tick Control Can Be Exhausting
