Sad Mom Leads to Spoiled Pups

Sad Mom Leads to

This weekend we attended an adoption event. Several rescues, the local shelter, and the humane society all banded together to try and get dogs (and a few cats) furever homes. I always know these events will make me sad and want another dog, but I want to go anyway. The adoption event was held outside in a huge shaded area near the dog park.

After leaving the adoption event, I was sad (shocker). I have a really hard time seeing all of the homeless dogs. Nick and I decided we wanted to go home and have a nice evening with our pups to put ourselves in a good mood.

After plentiful cuddles, a car ride, and a long walk in a new area, this happened…

Ice cream is an extremely rare treat in our house. I can’t tell you the last time they were allowed such an indulgence. We had some happy babies that night! Our moods were definitely lifted as well 🙂

What do you do to boost your mood?

I’ve noticed that when I leave an event (even if it’s a great one like this) I always end up spoiling the dogs a little more that night.

How funny that we both gave our pups ice cream this week. It’s a rare treat for Rita too… We’ve had her 2 1/2 years and this was her first cone. (Although she gets doggy ice cream – Frosty Paws- every once in a while.) I LOVE ice cream, so it always puts me in a good mood! (It is hard to go to those events and want to bring everypawdy home!)

It really is! I like to make them a homemade version of frosty paws sometimes. Real ice cream is always a fantastic treat 😉

Ice cream is instant happiness! I hope that lots of pets found new homes. I know it is so hard not to take them home. I went to one and they had puppies wearing little Polo shirts. It was torture, they were so flippin’ cute! ♥♥

Awww! How pawsome that you put the doggie bone in there too! Love it!!!
I always get sad when I see those things too, and I would have done the same things (basically) that you did to boost my mood. I actually just finished publishing a post about homemade dog ice cream! Although I do give the real stuff to the huskies every once and a while too!

Who can be sad when there’s ice cream and pups around? 🙂

    I hope you’re having a fun day,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

I love being surrounded by dogs, and it is a heart breaking to know that other people doesn’t
I wish that all places around the world would have this kind of event. DOGS + ICE CREAMS = HAPPINESS 🙂

We don’t give Cody and Sierra ice cream but they do get frozen yogurt. Lower in fat and dairy.

We used to have to get him sedated for sanitary trims, but a few months ago we were able to switch to Clonidine and do them ourselves. We’ve been gradually reducing the dosage, and today, he had his first trim with ZERO drugs and ZERO growling 🙌🙌
