Healthy Joints, Happy Dog

As a giant breed owner, one of my biggest concerns is keeping my dogs’ joints healthy. It’s extremely important to keep them lean as they grow so there isn’t much pressure on their joints. It’s also important to allow them to grow slowly. If they grow too fast, it can wreck havoc on their joints.

I prefer to make sure my giant breeds are getting a joint supplement throughout their entire lives. I feel it helps with any growing pains and keeps them loose, rather than waiting until they are having issues to start supplementing. However, if your pup is starting to show hip/joint issues, it’s not too late! Supplementation can be extremely beneficial at preventing and managing hip and joint pain. It’s an added bonus if my pups will happily eat the supplement.

I was so excited to be given the opportunity to try Pet Naturals Hip + Joint. Unlike the other joint supplements I’ve tried, these were shaped like tiny treats. Call me crazy, but I think there’s a difference in how easily my pups will accept a supplement when it’s shaped like a treat versus a pill. The Pet Naturals Hip + Joint also comes in a bag rather than a normal pill container. When my two hear me opening the bag, they automatically think it’s a treat bag. I think Pet Naturals did an excellent job of disguising these little supplements!

Here’s what Pet Naturals has to say about their products:

For more than four decades, FoodScience® Corporation has been a leader in the research

and development of the highest quality animal and human health products. Pet Naturals®

of Vermont, a division of FSC, develops and produces only the purest, most reliable

formulas to help pets live healthier lives. Our company specializes in therapeutic

supplements, that’s our expertise, and unlike many other pet supplement

manufacturers, that’s our focus, that’s what we do. All of our products bear the NASC

(National Animal Supplement Council) seal, guaranteeing that our products meet

the organization’s guidelines for quality, integrity and truth in labeling. All ingredients

utilized in PetNaturals® products are of the highest quality and are evaluated for purity

and potency prior to use.

DSC_0377picSounds great, right? I also love how simple the ingredients are in the Hip + Joint supplement.

  1. Glucosamine HCl – a natural anti-inflammatory substance derived from shellfish that is used to help form and repair body tissues such as cartilage, and improve joint health naturally, increasing mobility
  2. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) – a natural sulfur compound shown to help improve joint flexibility and reduce pain and inflammation
  3. Chondroitin Sulfate – another natural substance found in your dog’s cartilage that, when paired with glucosamine, has an even more beneficial effect on your dog’s joints
  4. N,N-Dimethylglycine HCl (DMG) – an intermediary metabolite, increases oxygen utilization in tissues

Do you think your dog could benefit from an all-natural hip and joint supplement? If so, you’re in luck! Pet Naturals is offering a free bag (value $29.99) and a coupon to the first 100 people to go to their site and sign up! Who doesn’t love free goodies?
