Frozen Puppy Bites

July 8, 2014 31 Comments

DSC_0136picNeed an easy treat to beat the summer heat?

Try these frozen puppy bites!

They’re only three ingredients of pure deliciousness. Well, I’m guessing based on the pups reactions. I haven’t actually tried them myself. Although I could!

  1. 1 cup Plain, Nonfat Yogurt
  2. 1 Banana
  3. 1 Tbs Peanut Butter

This recipe is extremely flexible, so play around with the ingredients a bit! Sometimes, I like to add a little bit of honey for something extra special. You can use other fruits, vary the amount of peanut butter, or add anything else your pup would love. I like using plain, nonfat yogurt as a base because it is full of healthy probiotics, which helps with tummy problems. A few dogs are sensitive to dairy, so be sure you are aware of any sensitivities before giving too many treats.

First, mash your banana in a large bowl. I used a potato masher, but a fork works just as well.

Second, add your yogurt.

Lastly, stir in your peanut butter.

I like to put my mixture into molds for a quick snack. Sometimes, I put the mixture in bowls so the dogs can enjoy a bigger treat.

Freeze and serve!

Easy peasy, right?!

I’m not sure how I would keep the humans away from something that had bananas, yogurt, and peanut butter.

NICE!! Just this past weekend I used one of Jodi’s recipes and dipped the banana slices in almond butter and froze them. The dogs loved them!! (I added some chocolate bits to the slices set aside for the humans and they were yummy!!) I’ll have to try this!

I LOVE making these for the boys, though I use blueberries instead of bananas. (I have a weird aversion to bananas…) They get so excited when I open the freezer door!

I’ll have to try making them with blueberries. I just always seem to have bananas and never and blueberries.

Does Jeffie like another fruit? You could always substitute with strawberries, blueberries, or whatever sounds tasty!

Mmm… That does sound yummy! I really need to try making a frozen Kong for my two. Normally, they just get peanut butter.

Yes!!! The easiest frosty treat 🙂 It’s Sugar’s favorite because of the bananas. Happy Tasty Tuesday. Golden Woofs

(PS: I have a frozen treats post lined up for next Tuesday as well; I just didn’t want you to think I ripped off your idea! :/ We used two different recipes and Kong treat molds!)

I really need to try these. I’ve bought frozen treats for Honey and they’re far more expensive.

For me, the problem would be keeping my husband from eating them too. 🙂

We used to buy frozen treats all the time and then I realized I could make a healthier version for a fraction of the cost. I think the dogs like them more, too! I’m sure my husband would eat them too if he ever looked in the freezer 😉
