The Trick
Guys, I’m not going to lie. I had totally planned on doing “speak” for this video. I taught this to Mauja when she was a puppy and it’s hilarious. She whines and yips – you really have to hear it. However, being a typical Great Pyrenees, Mauja was not into speak when I was trying to record. She absolutely refused. If I moved the camera away, she did it. When I brought the camera back out, she stopped.
Stinker.
So instead, we’re teaching “crawl” today! Mauja and Atka used to be really good at this trick, but it’s been awhile since we’ve worked on it so they needed a bit of a refresher. Check out the video below to see the fluffies crawling and see just how ridiculous training a Great Pyrenees can be.
Guard Dog + Trick Training + Noises = Distracted Fluffy
The Treat
Mauja and Atka LOVE so many of the products from Dr. Harvey’s, so we’re thrilled to be hosting a giveaway for Dr. Harvey’s treats! Enter below for a chance to win the Coconut Smiles and Sweet Potate’r Chews (giveaway open to US only). Two great treats as you teach your pup to crawl! Don’t forget to follow Dr. Harvey’s on Facebook and Twitter.
What trick do you want to teach your dog?
Good job! I would never even attempt a trick with Katie! Emma is being difficult enough 🙂
Great trick.
Bailey and Katy have both crawled but only when they chose not on command. Let’s just say it had something to do with chasing a bunny through a tight space and leave it there.
My doG don’t dk how to crawl
Zelda will crawl a short distance when asked to before getting excited about the treat and popping up. If she’s trying to sneak something past us, though, she’ll crawl on her own for much longer!
Penny did learn crawl in her puppy class, but we haven’t practiced in awhile. I’m sure she’ll do it!
no! but that is a great trick!
nope…not there quite yet!!
This is such a fun idea! I love Dr. Harvey’s. I tried the coconut treats at BlogPaws. They were a hit with me and the dogs.
He can crawl but not very well.
No but I would love to teach her how to crawl!!
Luna doesn’t know crawl yet. I’ve been trying to teach it, but she is just too darn quick. She’s got the treat before I even know what hit me!
Khloee would pick this up I think, but not Wynston. I love all that fluff!
Yes Schooner use to crawl in agility but he decided after I saw you video to try forget all he did was barking at me and it sounded like he was yelling at me No Way just give the treat. His brother Skipper turned his back on me. We will keep practicing! Thank for the video!
My dog does not know how to crawl, but he does bounce. He bounces down the hall to breakfast every morning.
Shiloh knew this trick once upon of time, it’s one I kind of forgot about. I’m going to have to bring it out and dust it off! Little Wager kind of crawls- backward. Backing up was a big trick I was teaching (Because they do agility, I try to train a lot of tricks that double as body awareness or stretching exercises!). Wager LOVES to back up, but tries to add it in to everything. Including when he’s told to lie down. The result is a backwards crawl, lol.
Nope Nala doesn’t crawl maybe one day
OK, so we’re working on this tonight, but Kol’s at that weird awkward stage where he looks a little like the kid from the Ring climbing out of the TV? Like way too gangly and limby?! I’m not sure I like this trick, lol.
my oldest crawl, but she does not do it on command, she does it when she greets someone…
My dog crawls but not on command. She crawls whenever she is approaching other dogs on walks.
Well done! Edie is not big on “tricks” per say, but crawl is one she can do!
Crawl is such a fun trick. I’ve taught it but I haven’t been able to fade the lure yet.
I love teaching tricks. Oh, and my corgis ADORE the coconut smiles!
That was an impressive trick! Us cats…we just go for the treats. 🙂
Our boy has learned to crawl (and won a limbo contest doing it!) but we don’t currently use it, so he’s probably forgotten.
None of my dogs can do very many tricks.
You know I love this! I’d fall over with glee to see them crawl in person. ☺ Jon Farleigh and Dewi will do anything for certain treats. One day, I need to teach them some things other than the basics. Though, I’ll take JF’s smooches ANY day!
My dog, Tonya, knows the crawl trick! She can even do it when I tell her to ‘crawl’ under something, and she is working on learning to crawl backwards, now, too! We entered through an “Amie De” Facebook account.
Layla does not know how to crawl
Nope, does not know how to crawl.
Nope, our dog can’t crawl.
That video was so amazing! I am really impressed, and I loved the distraction and seeing them live in action.
That’s a pretty pawsome trick! Great job! I love the idea of the Trick or Treat hop that you ladies put together. I bet there are going to be a lot of happy dogs with all of those yummy prizes.

So fun! Have not taught my dogs how to crawl, although Damon, our little bully, sometimes does on his own. Maybe I need to put a cue to it. 😀

Nope my dogs can’t crawl yet!
No, but my past dog did 🙂 I would say ‘army crawl’ and then ‘bang’ and she’d crawl and then roll over
My beagles will crawl to scratch their bellies but not on command!
1 of my 3 can the other 2 have hip issues so they dont.
No not yet!
No, neither of my dogs know how to crawl.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen our dogs crawl before
