Caru Means “to Love”

September 16, 2014 20 Comments

This post may contain affiliate links. You won't pay a penny more, but you'll help keep It's Dog or Nothing running (websites are expensive!) and the floofs fed (they're even more expensive - as you well know) ;)

Caru Dog Food

Caru means “to love”.

Such a fitting name for dog nutrition.

You guys know that I am loving pawTree for the dogs currently. However, I like to add variety to their meals. Sometimes I throw in some chicken, green beans, or other veggies we had along with dinner.

With Caru, they eat like royalty (at least that’s what they think).

Caru makes natural stews that are great toppers for the dogs’ every day nutrition. The stews can make a stand alone meal, but I prefer to enhance their kibble. Mauja and Atka think they’re being treated to a 5 star dinner, but it’s healthy for them too!

Before the taste test, Atka decided he needed to do his own research about the Caru products. I guess as he nears one year of age, he’s beginning to worry about his nutrition!

Great Pyrenees Tries Caru

The stews are free of wheat, gluten, corn, soy, artificial ingredients, and animal by-products. Real meat is the first ingredient and recipes are prepared in small batches to ensure quality. Not only does Caru care that the ingredients are top notch for our dogs, but they also care about the environment. The stew packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, and made from renewable resources. Pawsome!

Mauja says, "Yum!"
Mauja says, “Yum!”

Along with the stews, we were given the opportunity to try their treat bites. The treats follow the same standards as the stew and the pups thought they were irresistible! The bites are a soft treat which are perfect for training or just a yummy snack.

I definitely plan to try the other kinds of treats to see if the pups enjoy them just as much. While I was very pleased with the stews, I will not be transitioning them to it as their main source of nutrition. I am very happy with the food they are on, but I will continue to purchase the stews as a topper for their food. I know they would really appreciate it!

Do you put a tasty topper on your dog’s food?

Disclaimer: I was given the product mentioned above in exchange for my honest opinion. However, It’s Dog or Nothing only shares products we believe in and feel our readers would enjoy.

I think they’re going to look at me like I’m a jerk when I give them plain kibble next 😉

Sheba gets a joint supplement added to her food, and all of the dogs love the smell of it, so they have to have something added to theirs too! Sometimes we add leftover meat or veggies (Luke loves green beans), and a gravy he likes. This sounds perfect to use for that so we might give it a try.

Honey and I are very happy with her current food, FreshPet. But once we move aboard a sailboat, I’ll need a new food for her.

The Caru stew package looks like aseptic containers. Is it something that stores without refrigeration?

If so, it might be a good add-on for kibble.

We use FreshPet as a topper every now and then as well. Love that stuff! The Caru stews do store without refrigeration 🙂

I’d never heard of that product before. Good review! We do add “toppers” in the form of leftovers, even though the dogs are on a raw diet. Love that the packaging is eco-friendly, too!

It’s great to mix it up every now and then. I don’t want them to get bored with their food. We have enough trouble keeping weight on them as it is!

Read many good reviews about their food. I would consider this … sometimes Sugar gets a special wet food. Happy tasty Tuesday. Golden Woofs
